This position announcement is for a Parks & Recreation Assistant Director - Planning, a full-time Civil Service position in Parks and Recreation. This position is responsible for the administrative and managerial duties involved in planning, organizing and directing the overall activities of the Planning Division of Metro Parks and all Metro Parks facility improvements.
Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department has something for everyone through its variety of strategically placed facilities and programs. Parks offers cultural arts and fitness classes, dog parks and nature programs and 16,000 acres of open space, including 121 parks and 19 greenways. - Typical Duties

• Establishes design and construction standards for all Metro Parks projects.
• Directs staff work assignments
• Implements long and short-range goals and objectives established by Parks Planning documents.
• Reviews and approves staff expenditures and contract pay requests.
• Develops and/or reviews design documents for all projects.
• Ensures compliance with all Parks facility standards and requisition/procurement processes.
• Documents bidding and proposal processes.
• Develops innovative facilities to meet all Parks program, aesthetic, and safety standards.
• Approves staff leave requests.
• Prepares and presents documents, presentations and reports.
• Supervises all employees assigned to the Parks and Recreation Planning Division.
- Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of increasingly responsible management experience directly related to the planning, organizing and directing the overall activities of a business or organization.
LICENSES REQUIRED
Valid Driver License
