Facilities Construction Director Tennessee State Parks Facilities Management

The Tennessee State Parks (TSP) Facilities Management team is seeking a Facilities Construction Director who on will represent them on assigned capital improvement projects throughout the state. This position is also the point of contact between construction project managers and TSP personnel. Based at TDEC’s Central Office located in Nashville, TN, TDEC employees are currently working in alternative workspaces from their home with the flexibility to have scheduled time in their assigned office.
General Responsibilities: ? Ensure all projects are compliant with federal and state ADA Design Guidelines. ? Develop and coordinate ADA transition plans and make recommendations for compliancy for all TSP facilities. ? Work closely with designers and contractors who have been hired to design and build capital improvement and capital maintenance projects. ? Coordinate with the Department of General Services (DGS) project management team to ensure projects meet Tennessee State Parks mission and DGS requirements. ? Develop a knowledge and understanding of State Building Commission (SBC) policies and procedures. ? Quickly develop knowledge of a diverse portfolio of assets including TSP inns, campgrounds, visitor centers, marinas, sewage treatment systems and other recreational-based facilities.

Requirements This is a state-wide position that will require some overnight travel. Previous or current state experience as well as certifications in building construction, fire codes, and ADA compliance preferred but not required. The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural, civil, electrical, fire protection, mechanical, or other related acceptable field of engineering science and experience equivalent to five years of professional facilities construction engineering and/or architectural work including at least two years of advanced technical and/or supervisory work.
